Marie C. Sexton, M.Ed.

​​​​Tidewater Learning Center was founded by Marie Sexton, M.Ed, an Educational Diagnostician specializing in learning disabilities. Mrs. Sexton has been an educator for 30+ years and has more than 20 years' experience in diagnostics. She is an Educational Diagnostician for Tidewater Community College and has worked successfully with many schools and colleges in the Tidewater area. Her daughter, Christin Rogers, is Assistant Director of TLC.

Tidewater Learning Center currently employs 6 tutors, all with backgrounds in education.  Many currently work, or previously taught, in the public school system.  Our tutors hold degrees ranging from education to psychology, many with post graduate degrees in special education.  Our tutors have been instructing at TLC for up to 20 years, and are trained to use a multi-sensory approach to instruction and the Orton-Gillingham method for reading instruction.  At Tidewater Learning Center, we strive to provide our students with a warm, friendly, and encouraging environment with an added focus on positive reinforcement.
